UPDATED 2013 Early Application Deadlines Extended

Colleges Extend Early Application Deadlines in Response to Technical Issues with Common App **UPDATE** Many schools are continuing to update their early decision and early action deadlines, so be sure to check back for updates throughout the week. Due to technical difficulties with the Common Application, many schools are pushing back their early decision and early action deadlines. Other schools, like Princeton University, are also allowing students to apply through the Universal College Application as an alternative to the glitchy Common App. This week, both the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Georgia Institute of Technology have extended their early application deadlines from Oct. 15 at 11:59 pm to Oct. 21. The changes come in the wake of technical issues with the Common Application, which has experienced problems since its Aug. 1 debut. From UNC’s office of undergraduate admissions: â€Å"Please know that we’re very sorry for any technical difficulties you may have experienced while trying to submit your application. We are in regular communication with the Common Application, which is doing their best to resolve these issues. We thank you for your patience. If you haven’t applied already, we’d like to remind you that although our Early Action (EA) deadline is October 15 (tomorrow night at 11:59 PM), if you would like to be considered for our EA deadline but are unable to submit an application by tomorrow night due to technical difficulties, you may still submit your application until Monday, October 21 at 11:59 PM. Please note that all EA applicants will receive the same consideration regardless of whether an application is submitted by either October 15 or October 21.† Georgia tech also released a bulletin on its undergraduate admissions website: â€Å"Given the continued technical difficulties with the Common Application Georgia Tech is extending its student Early Action application deadline to October 21, 2013 at 11:59 P.M.
